June 16, 2017 - At the entrance to Playland on Friday, Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino encouraged dads across Westchester to get outside, have fun, and enjoy the Westchester County Parks System this Father’s Day.
“Westchester County has hundreds of miles of beautiful hiking trails, scenic vistas, and parks like Playland for family fun,” said Astorino. “This Father’s Day, take a breath of fresh air, get a little exercise in, and take the family on an outdoor adventure.”
Joined by Peter DeLucia of the Department of Health and Joseph Kenner of the Department of Social Services, Astorino highlighted the annual Dads Ride Free event this Sunday at Playland and also discussed the four easy steps to staying healthy: Know your numbers, move more, eat smart, and get a checkup.
A part of the County Executive’s ongoing “Keep Healthy” educational campaign, Dads should know their numbers such as blood pressure and cholesterol. Men should speak with their healthcare providers about what tests they need and how often they need them. Prevention is the key to good health.
