May 29, 2017 - Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino joined the county’s Veterans Service Agency in hosting the Annual Veterans Appreciation Day at Rye Playland during Memorial Day Weekend.
The event began with pipes and drums, the presentation of colors, a Memorial Day tribute, and remarks by Astorino and the director of Westchester County’s Veterans Service Agency, Ron Tocci.
“Westchester County has the privilege of honoring our veterans, and Playland really is the perfect place to host it,” said Astorino. "On behalf of a grateful county, thank you, welcome home and God Bless each and every United States veteran, living and deceased.”
Veterans and their families not only received free admission to the park and rides, but enjoyed a barbeque, musical entertainment and a U.S. Marine Corps helicopter display and demonstration.
