muscootgoatMarch 20, 2017 - In celebration of the first day of spring, County Executive Robert P. Astorino welcomes three newborn Pygmy goats to the Alfred B. DelBello Muscoot Farm. The 777 acre farm, which is opened year-round, is home to over 70 animals, a dairy barn and a blacksmith shop.

“As the spring weather approaches, I encourage everyone to visit Westchester’s various farms and parks, where there is something for the entire family to enjoy,” said County Executive Astorino. “The Alfred B. DelBello Muscoot Farm is one of Westchester’s many farms that celebrate our agricultural heritage.”

The newborns, also known as “kid” goats, are a miniature breed of domestic goats that can weigh between 55-85 pounds. Pygmy goats are known to have a good temperament and friendly personalities, which makes them very popular at petting zoos and farms.
