MCNY1County Executive Robert P. Astorino congratulated members of the Marching Cobras of New York, a 70-member band consisting of many Westchester students, during a special live performance at St. Christopher's School in Dobbs Ferry on Thursday.

The band has been selected by the NFL to lead the Vince Lombardi Trophy through Times Square during the opening ceremony of Super Bowl Boulevard on Jan. 29.

"I want to congratulate the Marching Cobras of New York on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," said County Executive Rob Astorino. "It goes to show what amazing talent we have here in Westchester and it is so great that some of our students can be part of welcoming fans and visitors to New York for the Super Bowl. I am proud of your hard work and can't wait to see our 'Super Band' perform."

In addition to leading the trophy onto Super Bowl Boulevard next week, the Marching Cobras will also be part of the live entertainment to welcome fans to the stadium on game day.

"The entire St. Christopher's family is so excited that our Marching Cobras band, led by Coach Terrel Stowers, will be escorting the Vince Lombardi Trophy down Broadway and participating in the Super Bowl festivities at MetLife Stadium," said Dr. Robert Maher, CEO, St. Christopher's, Inc. "We could not be more proud of our students as they embark on this unforgettable experience."

Fifteen members of the Marching Cobras attend St. Christopher's School. St. Christopher's helps teens with emotional, behavioral and learning disabilities by providing a residential program encompassing comprehensive therapeutic, social, and family services coordinated with special-education schooling. St. Christopher's team of more than 200 professionals serves more than 170 resident youths on three campuses, plus 160 day students at the Greenburgh Academy.

Super Bowl Boulevard will be set up on Broadway between 34th and 47th streets and will take place Jan. 29 through Feb. 1, from noon to 10 p.m. The free, interactive, football-themed experience will take over Times Square and is open to the public.
