Mountain Lakes YurtsYou can have all the fun of an old-fashioned weekend campout without ever leaving Westchester during the first ever Adventure Getaway Weekend, from Thursday, Aug. 18, through Sunday, Aug. 21, at Sal J. Prezioso Mountain Lakes Park in North Salem.

During the day, there’ll be guided nature hikes, swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. You can test your mettle on the high and low ropes course. At night, enjoy a guided moonlight hike and stargazing during a tour of the night sky, roast marshmallows around a campfire and join an old-fashioned sing-along.

You‘ll stay in a yurt, a tent cabin with electricity and bunk beds. Delicious meals will be provided in the newly renovated mess hall.

The Adventure Getaway Weekend begins at 3 p.m. Thursday and runs through Sunday at 11 a.m. Price is $250 per person, $150 for children ages 6 and under. Deadline for registration is Monday, Aug. 1.

Located in the northeast corner of Westchester County, the 1,082-acre Mountain Lakes Park is Westchester’s northernmost county park. It is characterized by a rugged landscape and native hardwood forest with miles of trails. The park boasts five lakes and a spectacular overlook which makes for breathtaking hiking destinations.

The Sal J. Prezioso Mountain Lakes Park is located on Hawley Road in North Salem and can be reached via Route 684, exit 8.  It is approximately a 30-minute drive from central Westchester.
