The Westchester County Department of Community Mental Health has teamed up again with Navigating the Spectrum to sponsor the 5th annual Autism Information Fair. It will take place Sunday, April 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.

The free event is for parents, therapists, educators, health care professionals, advocates and anyone who cares about a child on the autism spectrum. The information stations provide an opportunity to learn about services available in Westchester County. This includes traditional and complementary interventions; medical, legal and financial services; educational, recreational, family and social support services; and how to make the transition from school-based to adult services.

An interactive forum to discuss ways to protect and ensure the safety of children and adults affected by autism is offered at 11 a.m. Join this discussion as both family and provider input is critical.

The transition from school-based to adult services is a challenging one for individuals on the autism spectrum, and has been one of the focuses of the Westchester County Autism Advisory Committee. Please be sure to take a look at the Roadmap for Adult Services created by the committee.

There will be an on-site children's activity room, including bouncers, ball pits and clowns from the Big Apple Circus. Free, supervised, professional childcare will be available.
