Get a head start on Fourth of July festivities at this event that includes fireworks, bouncy houses, food, and music.

Cross County Shopping Center is celebrating Independence Day as part of their SummerFest event series. Festivities kick off at 7 p.m. with a live musical performance by the Broadway Project Band. Top off the night with a fireworks display starting around 9:30. Free

Whereas many 4th of July celebrations emphasize fireworks first with music as an added perk, this event is the other way around. Enjoy music performed by a 60-piece orchestra of woodwinds and percussion in addition to a fireworks display.

Enjoy a free concert with the Barnstorm at 7 p.m., followed by a fireworks display. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will move indoors to the Peekskill Middle School Auditorium at 212 Ringold St.

The Annual Fireman's Carnival runs June 27 through July 5. After a day of carnival fun, grab a spot on the open green fields or along the marina to check out the fireworks show. There's no bad viewing spot for the fireworks that start around 9:30. Free admission; pay per ride at the carnival.
