March 31, 2017 - Westchester County Executive, Robert P. Astorino officially opened the county golf courses, with the first swing of the year, on Thursday at the Dunwoodie Golf Course in Yonkers.
In his opening remarks, Astorino discussed various improvements for the county golf courses this year. At Dunwoodie, a major $2.5 million project that will computerize the entire irrigation the system will soon be completed. The Sprain Lake Golf Course will also receive a new irrigation system and landscape updates later this season.
“This season our courses are better than ever,” said Astorino. “In the last several years we have invested to improve the quality of play throughout our system of six courses. I invite golfers to go online, pickup their tablet or get on their smart phone to make their reservation at one of our six county courses.”
Westchester County owns and operates six 18-hole courses located throughout the county, all including a practice putting green, pro shops, golf carts, lockers, restaurants and professional instructions from a PGA pro.
