2016 holiday message from County Executive Robert P. AstorninoDec. 22, 2017 - This is the time of year when we count our blessings, filling the holidays with fun and family.

The holidays are also an opportunity to shine a light of caring and generosity where they are needed most. Big gestures and small both go a long way toward helping others. Maybe it’s a donation to a toy or coat drive, or a gift to a local faith-based charity. Perhaps that plate of cookies you drop off, or invitation to a Christmas party will be the gesture that makes this holiday a happy one for a neighbor in need.

They say home is where the heart is, and Westchester lives up to that saying every single day.

So as we close out 2017, and look to the promise of a New Year, I wish you peace, good health and joy.

From my family to yours, Happy Hannukah, Happy Kwanzaa, and a very Merry Christmas!
