County Executive Robert P. Astorino will welcome WWII veterans for the fourth Hudson Valley Honor Flight (HVHF) out of the Westchester County Airport this Saturday, May 14. HVHF, in partnership with the Westchester County Veterans Service Agency (WCVSA), will send 64 Westchester World War II veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the National WWII Memorial.
“This is a great opportunity to honor the service of our WWII Veterans, the Greatest Generation” said Astorino. “We remain forever in their debt. Thank you to the Hudson Valley Honor Flight and all those who support this great cause for making these trips possible.”
There will be a pre-flight ceremony at the Westchester County Airport at 7:30 a.m and a welcome home reception that evening at 8:30 p.m. All are welcomed to attend.
Several times each year, the HVHF, along with the support of the WCVSA, will host a free, one-day trip to and from Washington, D.C., for these special veterans. The organization coordinates all trip details from transportation to meals and tours.
Special thanks to the Westchester County Airport staff and JP Morgan Chase for their assistance in making this flight possible.
