Screening Under the Stars in Kensico Dam Summer is in full swing, and this year brings no excuse to miss out on outdoor fun now that ArtsWestchester has officially launched another year of Music in the Air.

County Executive Robert P. Astorino, joined by ArtsWestchester CEO Janet Langsam, kicked off the program on Thursday, July 8, which includes more than 250 free or affordable (under $20) events that will be held throughout the summer.

This year’s lineup ranges from the county’s very own free outdoor movie series “Screening Under the Stars,” to the Chappaqua Orchestra performing Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, the Fort Hill Players performing Captain Charlie’s Amazing Pirate Show, dance performances by the Connecticut Ballet as well as dozens of jazz, rock and rhythm and blues concerts.

The atmosphere is all-inclusive. Take a date, bring the kids, grandparents, the whole family- there is sure to be something for everyone.  You can drop by or make a day of it, bringing blankets, lawn chairs and a picnic.  All events are held throughout Westchester’s beautiful parks and outdoor theaters.

“As a father of three young children, two of which are out of school for the summer, what could be better than free outdoor entertainment that the whole family can enjoy?” said County Executive Robert P. Astorino.

So give yourself a break, save the cost and time from commuting into the city, and enjoy all the diverse talent that Westchester has to offer right in your own backyard.
