Young musicians ages 15 to 20 will rock the house and vie for first place at Westchester's biggest and best Battle of the Bands, Saturday night, Jan. 22, at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.

Beginning at 6 p.m., eight bands that were chosen from more than 20 audition CDs will perform on the stage in the Main Hall in front of a live audience. Judging will be done by a panel consisting of staff from the parks department and professionals from the music industry; prizes will be awarded to the winning band.

Bands (and their home town) scheduled to perform are as follows:

  • The Fame (Mamaroneck)
  • Orion (Tuckahoe)
  • Parting Seas (South Salem)
  •  Ray Sez Rolling (Scarsdale)
  • The Semi–Revolutionaries (Katonah)
  • Short Bus (Eastchester)
  • The Sightseers (Montvale, N.J.)
  • Temporary Heroes (Bronxville)

The winning band will receive six hours of free studio time at Acme Recording Studios in Mamaroneck. All bands will receive a gift certificate from Sam Ash Music in White Plains.

Admission is $5 per person and I.D. is required for entry. Refreshments will be available for sale. The parking fee at the County Center lot will be waived for the event.

The Battle of the Bands is sponsored by Westchester County Parks, Friends of Westchester County Parks, Inc., Sam Ash Music, Acme Recording Studios, Inc., and 107.1 the Peak World Class Rock radio.
