The Westchester County Department of Health will be offering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at all upcoming Department of Senior Programs and Services (DSPS) Salute to Seniors events. Residents 50 years of age and older are eligible to receive the vaccine. In order to receive a shot, you must provide verification that four months has passed since your last COVID-19 vaccination. If you are receiving your first vaccination you will need to get your second at a local pharmacy or clinic near you. Seniors must bring their vaccination cards to the event if they are interested in receiving the vaccine. Free COVID-19 test kits and hand sanitizers will also be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer said: “If the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us anything, we have learned the best way to protect ourselves and our families is through vaccinations. We also know that our seniors are among the most vulnerable populations for this virus, and getting your vaccine can prevent serious illness or even death. I encourage all of our seniors to take advantage of this great opportunity and get vaccinated by one of our medical professionals at a Salute to Seniors event.”

Commissioner of the Westchester County Health Department Dr. Sherlita Amler said: “I want everyone to understand, especially our senior community, that getting your vaccine is just as important now as it ever was. We have watched thousands of our loved ones suffer from this disease since the onset of the pandemic, and getting your vaccine is the best way for us to address this virus head on. Please remember your vaccine card, and consider getting your vaccine with the Health Department at a Salute to Seniors event in May.”

Commissioner of DSPS Mae Carpenter said: “This is just one more reason for our seniors to come out and join us for the Salute to Seniors events in May. This is a great opportunity for our senior citizens to have fun, and also continue to protect themselves and their families. Senior citizens should get vaccinated with us if they haven’t done so already, or get another shot if it has been more than four months since their last vaccine.”
