Westchester County Executive George Latimer has announced two new positions on his administration aimed to enhance the County’s efforts at the beginning of Latimer’s second term as County Executive.
Latimer said: “Westchester is a County with many different needs on many different policy fronts. As we turn our focus to our second four-year term in office, we are finding new challenges and solutions to tackle them. Both Ellen and Bessie will be key in these efforts and I look forward to working with them in their new roles.”
Ellen Hendrickx has been promoted to the position of Director of Research. In this capacity, she will undertake a variety of assigned research projects designed to identify policy options and best practices in effect that can be adopted by County government. She past served the County as Assistant Director of Intergovernmental Relations.
Bessie Schachter has been promoted to the position of Assistant Director of Research. Schachter has provided excellent work in her current task in scheduling and will also be charged with identifying issues and finding the best path forward for County government.
Hendrickx said: “I am grateful to the County Executive for giving me the opportunity to further enhance County Government’s ability to proactively identify areas where we can add value. I look forward to working with Bessie to better serve County residents.”
Hendrickx lives in the Town of Greenburgh. She worked as a Legislative Aide and Committee Coordinator for the County Legislature for nine years before joining the County Executive office. She will begin her term as a Town Councilperson in January.
Schachter said: “I am looking forward to undertaking research that will enable the County to establish new policy approaches. Ellen is a wonderful leader in this endeavor and I look forward to working in tandem with her at the direction of the County Executive to make this new department an asset to Westchester County.”
Schachter has worked in political policy for government and nonprofit organizations in and around New York City for more than a dozen years. She is a proud working mother and devoted public servant.
