After a successful virtual seminar last month, Westchester County will host another Spanish-language seminar July 21 at 1pm. Information will be provided to Spanish-speaking business owners on how to obtain a small business recovery grant.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer said: “A large portion of our local businesses struggled to stay afloat during the pandemic, and many of them were Spanish-speaking business owners. By providing the tools and resources to all our local business owners, they can recover and rebuild while continuing to strengthen the economy of Westchester County.”
Director of the Westchester County Office of Economic Development Bridget Gibbons said: “The number of Hispanic-owned businesses has grown exponentially in Westchester County and we want to make sure business owners are aware of the funding opportunities that are available to them.”
Director for Minority and Women-Owned Business Development Martha Lopez said: “Our last seminar was so successful, we want to keep expanding to other areas in Westchester including Port Chester, Peekskill and New Rochelle to help Hispanic owned businesses continue to grow and flourish.”
New York State has selected Lendistry, a financial technology institution, to administer the grant program with a focus on reaching businesses historically underserved and disproportionately affected by the pandemic. Lendistry will be making a presentation to show business owners how to apply for the grant.
The County is partnering with the Westchester Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Yonkers Mexican Chamber of Commerce.
