All data shown on the Westchester County COVID-19 Confirmed Cases Map is presented a few days later than New York State tracker numbers. The New York State tracker reports data received from the testing labs, based on the address provided to the lab by the resident. Westchester County receives the data after it has been transferred from the State’s case management system. Westchester County then does a more in-depth analysis of the data, checking local addresses in order to attribute cases to the correct municipality.

As Westchester County residents are aware, the mailing address does not always reflect the actual municipality of residence. Situations may also arise where it could take a few extra days to receive and verify the results, such as Westchester residents who were tested at nearby Connecticut locations, or students who away at college but are covered by their parents’ health insurance policy, so the test result is affiliated with their family residence.
