Westchester County Bee-Line Bus System to resume full service beginning Monday, June 15, 2020.

(White Plains, NY) – The Bee-Line Bus System will resume full service beginning Monday, June 15.  All routes will be in operation and on their regular schedule. With ridership increasing over the past few weeks, restoring regular service will allow for safe, social distancing guidelines to remain in place on the Bee-Line Bus System. Westchester County will continue to work closely with Liberty Lines Transit staff to ensure the safety of all Bee-Line bus operators as we resume full service.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer said: “This return of our full Bee-Line Bus service will mark an important step in the reopening of Westchester County. Many of our residents rely on Bee Line to get back and forth to work, and to access other essential places such as grocery stores and doctor appointments. Our riders can be rest assured that we are providing them with a safe, reliable and sustainable mode of transportation.”

Vice President of Operations for Liberty Lines Transit, Inc. Tom Murphy said: “Liberty Lines Transit applauds the efforts of all of our employees who have maintained essential bus service since the onset of this pandemic. We look forward to having all of our riders return to the bus system as regular service is resumed on Monday, June 15.”

Private Operations Division Chairman of TWU Local 100 Carlos Bernabel said: “TWU Local 100 appreciates the concern of Liberty Lines and Westchester County for the safety of bus operators and maintenance personnel during this COVID 19 outbreak. The implementation of bus shields on the rest of the fleet will go a long way to keep our personnel safe.”

Bee-Line Bus riders are still encouraged to use the system for essential travel only. Bee-Line has previously taken every precaution to protect passengers and drivers during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the implementation of rear-door boarding and the elimination of payment transactions. At this time, rear-door boarding practices are still in place, and payment will not be required on Bee Line buses until further notice. Front door boarding is permitted for passengers who require the use of the lift or ramp.

All Bee-Line passengers are required to wear a face covering upon entering the bus and must keep them on, covering their nose and mouth, for the duration of their trip. Whenever possible, riders are encouraged to distance themselves and keep six feet away from other passengers.
