The Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services is encouraging all seniors to use this IRS Tracking Tool to find out if your Coronavirus Stimulus Check has been mailed, and whether it will be arriving via check, direct deposit or debit card. Many Coronavirus payments have not gone out yet, and some people are mistakenly throwing the debit card away thinking it is junk mail. If you believe you have not received, or have misplaced your Coronavirus Stimulus Check, you can also call the IRS Economic Stimulus line at (800) 919-9835. Please note that not all payments have gone out as yet.

The Treasury Department has sent out four million prepaid debit cards to residents. The best way to verify when your stimulus payment will arrive and whether it will be by check, direct deposit or debit card is to go to the Get My Payment Link or call the IRS Stimulus line.

The Get My Payment tool will ask for some specific information and you can usually get an answer in a few minutes. Please follow the directions below:

1. Open Search for status of payment tool.

2. The next page asks about authorized use, tap OK.

3. You will be asked to provide your Social Security number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), date of birth, street address and ZIP code and tap Continue.

4. The next page will give your payment status, whether it has been scheduled or if the service can't yet determine your status.

Please note that not everyone is entitled to a stimulus payment. It is based on your last filed tax return and if you are:

  • Are a single US resident and have an adjusted gross income less than $99,000.
  • File as the head of a household and earn under $146,500.
  • File jointly without children and earn less than $198,000.
  • Are the parent of child aged 16 or younger.

Not everyone will receive the same payment amount. As you get closer to income limits, a formula is utilized to determine your payment. The IRS mails a confirmation letter about two weeks after the payment is issued. The letter provides information on the amount that was sent and the specific form of payment.
