Westchester County Airport is proud to honor eight of its general aviation based operators and corporate flight departments with the “Spirit of Noise Abatement” Awards.
The awards are presented in recognition of those operators who have achieved 100% compliance with the Westchester County Airport Voluntary Restraint from Flying Program (12 midnight through 6:30 a.m.), and the High Range Noise Event Limit (90.0 dBA) for the entire year. The Spirit of Noise Abatement Award was developed in 1994 as a motivational program to promote compliance with noise abatement procedures, and the use of “quiet technology” aircraft at the County Airport. The Awards were last presented in 2012, and are being reinstated by Westchester County Executive George Latimer to recognize good corporate neighbors.
Latimer said: “The Spirit of Noise Abatement Awards Ceremony is a small way for the County to say thank you to our flight operators for their good corporate citizenship, and commitment to being a ‘good neighbor.’ When we are able to work together to reduce the impact on those affected by significant aircraft noise, we can help ensure that Westchester County Airport remains a vibrant transportation hub, economic benefits driver, and a good neighbor to Westchester County’s residents.”
The following eight companies received Noise Abatement Awards in the categories of Jet, Turbopropeller and Helicopter. They are as follows:
Clay Lacy – Global, Aircraft Charter Company
Crane Company – Manufacturing Company
Interlaken Capital Aviation Services, Inc. – Financial Company (Awarded in two categories)
Pepsico – Fortune 50 Company
N267DW – Aircraft Charter Company
New York Power Authority – Utility Company
IBM – Fortune 50 Company
The “Spirit Winners” receieved a plaque in recognition of their dedication and efforts to help reduce the impact of aircraft noise on the Airport’s surrounding communities.
