November 5, 2018 -- Westchester County Executive George Latimer is pleased to announce that the Multimedia Department at the County Executive’s Office has connectivity to the company known as “The Switch,” located at 60 Hudson Street, New York.
Since 1991, The Switch has been the leading provider of video switching services for major media markets across the country. The Switch takes in all live and pre-recorded video feeds from customer locations, where it then connects to cable networks, broadcasters, production houses and satellites, forming a sharing network. In essence, all major news announcements by County Executive George Latimer can be made available to the media through The Switch.
County Executive George Latimer said: “This service will be tremendously useful to both my administration, as well as broadcast networks. With connectivity to The Switch we can ensure that our message is always heard, even during times of crisis when unforeseen circumstances might prevent switch clients from reaching our office.”
Live video interviews sent out from the County Office Building reaches The Switch through a fiber network, where it can be picked up by broadcasters and networks for retransmission, or taping. Live split-screen coordinated interviews can also be achieved with access from The Switch.
