The Hispanic Advisory Board, under the leadership of Westchester County Executive George Latimer, has extended the deadline to respond to the Latino Community Survey to October 7.

Hispanic Advisory Board Chair Dr. Carmen Martínez-López said: “In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month we wanted to give more people the chance to make their voiced heard. Your input is vital in helping shape the future of our community—don’t miss the opportunity!”

The comprehensive survey targeting the Latino community is being conducted in collaboration with Pace University, and marks the first needs assessment of its kind in over two decades. The survey aims to gather insights and data from the Latino community within Westchester County, addressing various aspects such as education, healthcare, employment, housing and social services. The last assessment, conducted more than 20 years ago, highlighted the necessity for updated information to better understand and address the evolving needs and challenges faced by the Latino population.

Latimer said: “The Latino community is an integral part of Westchester County. This survey will provide us with essential data to enhance our programs and services, ensuring that we meet the current needs of our Latino residents. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all.”

Martínez-López said: “It is crucial to have up-to-date information to effectively advocate for and support our community. This survey, in partnership with Pace University, will allow us to gain a deeper understanding of the experiences and needs of the Latino population in Westchester County. We encourage all Latino residents to participate and share their insights.”

Pace University’s involvement brings academic rigor and expertise to the project, ensuring the collection of high-quality, actionable data. The survey results will guide the development of policies and programs aimed at improving the quality of life for the Latino community in Westchester County.

Pace University Professor, Chair of Public Administration and Executive Director of the Wilson Center for Social Entrepreneurship Rebecca Tekula said: “Collaborating on this survey underscores our commitment to community-engaged research in Westchester County. We are proud to partner on this effort to capture the voices and experiences of Latino residents, toward the goal of informing and improving the delivery of services and supports.”

The Hispanic Advisory Board and Latimer urge all Latino residents to take part in this important survey. The collective input will be instrumental in shaping the future of community support and services.
