pink and purple flowersPurple Loosestrife is an herbaceous, multi-stemmed wetland perennial up to two to three meters tall, becoming woody at base. Has opposite leaves with smooth margins, and a terminal spike of showy, pinkish-purple flowers.

Although it may be controlled mechanically and by chemicals, it has been effectively controlled biologically by the release of beetles and weevils.
