Westchester County Executive George Latimer distributed COVID-19 test kits to families served by Open Door Family Medical Center in Port Chester.

Latimer said: “This pandemic is still very much a part of our daily lives and it’s our responsibility to keep our neighbors and our community safe and healthy. Open Door and many local non-profits have really stepped up to the plate during these unprecedented times, providing support to families living in every corner of the County, regardless of socioeconomic status. It is important we remain committed to that mission as we continue to move forward.”

Open Door Family Medical Center Director of Marketing and Community Relations Grace Battaglia said: “Since acquiring more than 5,000 COVID-19 rapid test kits through our partnership with Westchester County, Open Door has distributed more than 5,000 COVID-19 rapid test kits to community members across Ossining, Port Chester, Sleepy Hollow, and beyond!  We are so proud to say that our outreach efforts continue as we look to make testing easy, quick and accessible for the individuals and families who need them most.”

Westchester County also provided Open Door Family Medical Center with nearly 1,000 hand sanitizers and KN95 masks for distribution, part of an event promoting health during the spring season.

Westchester County’s allotment of COVID-19 test kits from New York State have also been given to child care centers, community health centers, police departments, fire departments, EMS agencies, senior centers, housing authorities, Chambers of Commerce, hotels, restaurants, food pantries, homeless shelters, local municipalities, Department of Public Works facilities and houses of worship.

It’s part of an ongoing initiative across many channels to keep Westchester families healthy while navigating this pandemic.
