Virtual awards ceremony for employees with disabilities who have excelled in their jobs, recognizes the businesses that hired them.
Honoring his commitment to helping individuals with disabilities find and keep rewarding careers, Westchester County Executive George Latimer congratulated 13 employees with disabilities who have excelled in the workplace, and the businesses who hired them. The National Disability Employment Awareness Month celebration, which takes place every year, recognizes individuals who have overcome great obstacles to succeed at their job. The awards ceremony is being held virtually this year.\
Latimer said: “It is always important to recognize the individuals who have faced challenges in order to achieve success in their professional lives. This annual event is about those employees and who they are as people, not their disabilities. We honor them for their dedication and commitment to their jobs, as well as the businesses who have done so much to support them in their endeavors.”

The National Disability Employment Awareness Breakfast is co-sponsored by the Westchester County Office for People with Disabilities, the Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services (ACCES-VR), the Westchester Employment Network and the New York State Commission for the Blind.
Director of the Westchester County Office for People with Disabilities Evan Latainer said: “October is recognized as National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and Westchester County once again is partnering with ACCES-VR and the WEN Committee to honor those employees and employers who have worked so hard this past year in being such a vital part of our community. Even though we continue to be challenged by the COVID-19 pandemic, these employees and the employers that stand by them should be commended for their dedication in being part of the workforce. We look forward to celebrating those achievements and building additional partnerships to employ individuals with disabilities into the Westchester County workforce. County Executive George Latimer’s ongoing support in making this event a success is greatly appreciated.”
