Located in the Department of Laboratories and Research – Valhalla: Under supervision, an incumbent of this class performs chemical, physical, microscopic and instrumental analyses of a routine nature, prepares solutions and reagents, maintains equipment, and processes crime scenes. The work of this level is distinguished from the work performed by a Senior Laboratory Technician (II - Forensic Science) who performs routine laboratory tests involving less independent judgment. Does related work as required.
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree* in Forensic Science, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Medical Technology, or closely related field which must have included or been supplemented by twenty credit** hours in chemistry, and one year of forensic science experience in a forensic science laboratory which must have been gained within the last 3 years.
SUBSTITUTION: Satisfactory completion of a Master’s Degree* in one of the above stated fields which must have included or been supplemented by twenty credit** hours in chemistry may be substituted for the one year of required experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of New York will be required at time of appointment and maintain same while in the title.
NOTES: **(1) The twenty credit hours of chemistry may be obtained at the undergraduate or graduate level or in any combination of undergraduate or graduate level credit hours. (2) The number of years of experience required in the minimum qualifications is based upon the presumption of full-time employment. Part-time experience will be prorated based on a 35 hour workweek. Located in the Department of Laboratories and Research – Valhalla: Under supervision, an incumbent of this class performs routine and complex chemical, physical, microscopic and instrumental analyses of physical evidence and controlled substances submitted to the Forensic Science Laboratory. The incumbent is responsible for processing crime scene evidence, testifying in court as needed, and assisting in the training and supervision of subordinate personnel. Incumbents may be required to perform functions exclusively in one area of the laboratory or in several areas. Does related work as required.
REQUIRED: A Bachelor's Degree* in Forensic Science, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Medical Technology, or closely related field, which must have included or been supplemented by twenty credit** hours in Chemistry and either: (a) three years experience in Forensic Science in a forensic science laboratory which must have been gained within the last seven years; or (b) a Master's Degree* in one of the above stated fields and two years of experience as stated in (a); or (c) a Ph.D.* in one of the above stated fields.

Located in the Department of Planning – White Plains: Under general supervision, an incumbent of this class administers housing assistance programs. Responsibilities involve considerable public contact, representing the County in contacts with federal, state and local public officials, industry, professional and civic organizations and other community groups. In addition, an incumbent has administrative responsibility over program operations, (i.e., budgeting, recruitment and training of personnel, accounting). This class differs from the Program Specialist (Housing and Planning) by the greater degree of administrative and supervisory responsibility over existing programs, responsibility for assisting in developing and coordinating new housing assistance and rehabilitation programs, and in assisting in the integration of these programs into the County’s Housing Implementation Plan. Supervision may be exercised over professional and clerical support staff. Does related work as required.
REQUIRED: Possession of a high school or equivalency diploma and either: (a) a Bachelor’s Degree* and four year of experience which involved housing assistance, housing development, planning or building or community rehabilitation; or (b) eight years of experience as described in (a).

Located in the Department of Planning – White Plains: Under general supervision, an incumbent of this position located in the Department of Planning, is responsible for assisting in the management of local, state and federal housing programs including the Emergency Solutions Grant Short-Term Rental Assistance and Eviction Prevention programs and other housing programs and services under the federally funded Community Development Block Grant. Work involves determining applicant eligibility, preparing financial analyses, case and project research, and meeting with representatives from federal, state and local agencies as well as lending institutions to assist in implementing programs. This level differs from the Program Administrator (Housing and Community Development) by complexity and scope of work. Supervision may be exercised over program support personnel. Does related work as required.
REQUIRED: Possession of a high school or equivalency diploma and either: (a) six years of experience where the primary function of the position was in housing assistance, housing development, planning or building or community rehabilitation; or (b) a Bachelor’s Degree* and two years of experience six years of experience as described in (a).
DEFINITIONS: (1) Housing Assistance is defined as experience directly assisting a family or household with the placement of housing or housing subsidies. (2) Housing Development is defined as experience in the feasibility, underwriting, or financial structuring associated with the production, development and/or rehabilitation of housing.
SUBSTITUTION: Satisfactory completion of 30 credits towards a Masters Degree* in Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering or a related field in Architecture or Engineering may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to two years the required experience.
