Event Scheduled for Sunday, October 19 at H-MRF in Valhalla
The Westchester County Department of Environmental Facilities will host the final compost giveaway event of 2025 in October. Those who sign up for the event will receive compost produced at the department’s CompostED site, a small-scale compost education and demonstration program that processes up to two tons of food scraps weekly. The event will also provide an opportunity for CompostED staff to engage directly with attendees, highlight the importance of local composting programs and share valuable resources with the community.

- Sunday, October 19, at the Household Material Recovery Facility (H-MRF), Valhalla, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Important Information:
- Due to limited quantities, registration is required.
- Residents must register online for a specific time slot.

- Each registered resident will receive two 1-cubic-foot bags of compost.
- DEF staff will be on site to verify registration and load pre-bagged compost into vehicles.
