“The Trump Administration must work with Congressional Democratic leaders to reopen the government. This shutdown is the direct result of the Trump Administration’s reckless budget agenda, which imposes extreme cuts that deliberately starve essential programs and services.
“The shutdown will directly impact the day-to-day lives of those who rely on food and housing benefits, as well as the nonprofits and local governments that depend on federal funding to support children and families.
“Here in Westchester County alone, we stand to lose millions of dollars. This is dysfunction at the highest level, and Americans deserve better. Open the government, present a responsible budget, and stop playing politics with healthcare and toying with food on the table.”
