Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins Statement on World AIDS Day

“World AIDS Day calls on us to look honestly at the progress we have made and the challenges that still remain. Advances in medicine have transformed HIV from a fatal diagnosis into a manageable condition for so many people. This progress has been possible because communities, health systems and advocates never stopped fighting for better care and stronger protections. Westchester County continues to support that mission through public health programs that expand testing, prevention, treatment access and community education.

“Even with these gains, too many people still face barriers to care and stigma that can cost lives. On this World AIDS Day, let us honor the advocates, survivors, families and medical professionals who have carried this work forward for more than four decades. We also commit to continuing this work with compassion and urgency until we reach a future free of HIV and AIDS.”
