Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins Statement on the Anniversary of the Death of Detective Christopher Ridley
“Today marks another year since the loss of Detective Christopher Ridley, a young officer whose life was cut short while trying to help others. Although he was off duty, Detective Ridley acted out of instinct and compassion, stepping forward when someone needed help. That decision defines who he was and why he is remembered across Westchester.
“The memorial on Court Street stands as a lasting reminder of Detective Ridley’s life and sacrifice. It offers a place for quiet reflection and a reminder of the responsibility that comes with choosing a life of public service. For his family, friends and fellow officers, the loss remains deeply personal. For our County, it is a reminder of the risks law enforcement officers take every day. As we remember Detective Ridley, we also renew our appreciation for the men and women who protect our communities, often without recognition and always with dedication.”
