Pace University CLOUT Program |

| City: | White Plains |
| Mission Statement: | |
| CLOUT Mission Statement The CLOUT (Computers*Literacy*Opportunity*University*Technology) Program consistently provides high quality, employment-directed credit-bearing and not-for-credit training and education programs with an emphasis on technology and computer applications, professional skills development, civic responsibility, and personal growth. The CLOUT offerings are designed for women and men whose employment has been affected by social and economic forces. The ultimate goal of the program is to equip students with the knowledge and tools which lead to employment, economic independence, and informed, responsible participation in a rapidly changing technological society. In doing so, the CLOUT Program helps to strengthen and build local communities by partnering with government, not-for-profit and community-based organizations, and businesses. CLOUT’s core values are consistent with those of the School of Computer Science and Information Systems: • Excellent teaching that is informed by scholarship, professional practice and community service; • The integration of theory and practice in the teaching and scholarly activity; • Creative programs and partnerships with the local community; and • Attentiveness to professional and social responsibility. Pace University’s motto “Opportunitas” is the foundation of the CLOUT Program’s commitment to bringing together a diverse population of students with different backgrounds and experiences. Technology is incorporated into all aspects of the program in recognition of it as a tool for human empowerment. The specific goals of the CLOUT Program are: 1. To provide high quality, comprehensive employment-directed education to underserved populations; 2. To offer a holistic approach to the educational experience by supporting course work with supervised internship, counseling services, careful review of performance, and referrals to supportive social service agencies. 3. To develop professional qualities and to foster long-term employment; 4. To help individuals obtain employment at the end of their period of study, which ultimately helps them to become self-sufficient. |
|
| Computer Equipment Needs: | |

All of our students have a child under 1 year of age when they enroll and many have school age children as well. Whenever Pace has computers to recylce, we do donate them to the CLOUT Students, but there are very few so we have to pick names out of a hat. We would love to be considered for your donation program. The school age children of our students benefit from the computers at home as well as their parent who is enrolled in Pace University. |
