Dragon Coaster, 1929. The Dragon Coaster was not completed in time for opening day, but by the second season it became--and remains today--the most popular ride at Playland. The wooden coaster shoots cars out of the dragon's mouth and down an 85 foot slope at speeds of up to 45 miles per hour. The Dragon Coaster was designed by Fred Church of the L.A. Thompson Scenic Railway Co. |
