SCHOOL ACTIVITY SHEET ANSWERS
A Board of Trustee supervised the Kensico district schools. With Information supplied by the teachers, the trustees prepared an annual report for the New York State Education Department. These reports included the following: names and ages of students; number of days of attendance; value of schoolbooks and furniture, operating expenses; value of the school buildings.
In your packet you will find three such reports, which differ somewhat by year and location. There are Trustees Reports for 1902 and 1914 for the Kensico schools. Often one teacher was assigned to teach pupils of all ages together. One of the 1914 reports is for the Camp School, which was provided for the children of the approximately 1,500 people who came to the area to build the dam.
