| Series numbers are assigned to individual groups of records that have been used and maintained, or that function, as a single unit (a series) as are they accepted into the Archives. | |
| As a result, series that come from the same County department (a Record Group), or that relate to the same subject, often do not have consecutive series numbers. Therefore, several approaches can be used to find records of interest to a researcher. |  |

make up the holdings of the Westchester County Archives and to
be linked to brief descriptions for each record series.
These series descriptions include information on the volume of the records, their
arrangement, if an index exists, and the types of subjects
covered in the records.
