Child Care
Westchester County has been working to make child care more affordable and more available to families. In partnership with the Child Care Council of Westchester, the county has worked to increase child care subsidies and reduce parents’ share for the cost of care.

The county has also provided funds to help train day care providers and expand the number of day care slots at child care centers. Families can learn more about how they can protect their young children from child abuse or from everyday household objects such as baby walkers.

Westchester County’s Department of Social Services offers subsidies to working families to help defray the cost of day care. Families who qualify can have some or most of the cost of day care paid for if their children attend approved programs. Scholarships are also available to families whose incomes exceed requirements for general subsidies.
County Executive, Andy Spano, cares about kids. From bike safety to cyber-bullying, Westchester has resources to help young people be informed so they can make the best choices.
