High schools to compete: Wednesday, Nov. 14 in White Plains

The Westchester County Human Rights Commission will hold its first Donald N. Silverman Moot Court Competition Wednesday, Nov. 14. at the Westchester County Courthouse, 111 Martin Luther King Blvd.,  White Plains. The opening ceremony will begin at 8:45 a.m.

The participants in the competition will be from various high schools in Westchester County.  The schools will compete against each other and the winners of the final round of competition will be honored at the commission’s  Annual Human Rights Breakfast on Dec. 11.

The Competition was established in memory of the late Donald N. Silverman, a former respected Supreme Court Judge, attorney and human rights advocate.  Judge Silverman served as the chair of the Human Rights Commission for several years, guiding it through its early formative years. Judges of the competition will be actual judges, administrative law judges and lawyers.
