Protecting our environment for the future is our responsibility

One of the greatest priorities of Westchester County is to keep our environment clean and healthy for today’s generation and generations to come. We have many programs designed to protect the air, land, water, and other natural resources of the county. There are things we do as a government and things you can do as an individual or a business.

Find out what you can do to help protect the environment. When you  recycle to reduce and reuse, metal, glass and paper, go one step further with paper and shred it. Westchester has purchased a mobile shredder truck for the public. Shredding works twofold -- it condenses the physical amount being recycled and it protects you against identity theft..

Plus, you can donate your old computers and cell phones, adopt a park, or volunteer to help restore our aquatic  attractions. Suggest open space locations that you think should be preserved or go on a digital Treasure Hunt to get or give away used but usable items.
