Hanger Campaign & Participants 

“DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR KIDS ARE HANGING?”

Thanks to a White Plains businessman, Westchester has a new way of getting its anti-alcohol and anti-drug message across to parents of teens and pre-teens. 

Richard Bayliss, president and owner of Nu-Way Cleaners in White Plains, worked with Minda Dry Cleaning Supply and the Neighborhood Cleaners Association of Westchester to produce and distribute over 100,000 hangers to dry cleaners in Westchester with the logo: “Do you know where your kids are hanging?”

Dozens of dry cleaners throughout Westchester are participating in the campaign, which was developed in conjunction with the Westchester County Coalition for Drug and Alcohol Free Youth and the Westchester County Office of Drug Prevention and Stop-DWI. 

County Executive Andy Spano recently presented Bayliss with a certificate of appreciation for his effort as well as his work with local youth groups. “You have been their advocate as well as their leader and we thank you,” Spano said. "This hanger will serve as a reminder to parents that they need to always ask their children questions about where they are going and where they have been.”

Bayliss, who is president of the Westchester Chapter of the Neighborhood Cleaners Association. contributed $1,000 to the hanger campaign to ensure participation by many dry cleaners. The names of the participants are listed on the county website: www.westchestergov.com/stopdwi . 

The county’s Drug Prevention & STOP-DWI Program provides educational programs and materials to Westchester schools, and funds DWI law enforcement patrols, sobriety checkpoints and DWI testing equipment, among other activities.
