Grants of Assistance for Guide Dogs (GAGD) are provided to eligible blind, hearing impaired, or disabled persons who maintain guide/service dogs. Eligibility is determined based on information contained in the "Application/Recertification Guide Dog Food Program".
What are the eligibility requirements?
- Reside in New York State;
- Be eligible for or in receipt of Supplemental Security Income;
- Not have any exempted earned income, and
- Maintain a guide/service dog.
How much will the dog receive in benefits?
The monthly benefit is $35.00 for the purchase of food for guide/service dogs.
