Information for active seniors

Westchester County offers many opportunities for seniors to remain involved with their community. The News and Events section will keep you up to date on all the latest senior happenings. The SCSEP program offers job training and employment opportunities for seniors wishing to return to the workforce. If you live in senior housing, you can join the Seniors Outstationed to Seniors program which offers activities and programming to residents.

Think about participating in one of the municipal senior clubs and centers throughout the county offering trips, recreation and educational programs, or get the Vocal Toolkit and write your elected representatives about issues that are important to you.

Senior Clubs and Centers

Senior clubs offer trips and activities for members. Nutrition centers offer congregate meals, home-delivered meals and nutrition education.

Senior Employment

This senior employment program assists with job placement for people aged 55 and older.

Get Vocal

Vocal works to invigorate the American tradition of grassroots community involvement in public policy. It gives voice to the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services mission to advocate for responsible policies, programs, legislation and resources for the elderly and their caregivers.

Livable Communities

The “Livable Community Connection” (LCC), is a plan to enable seniors to live in their homes as they grow older with dignity, independence and civic involvement.

Services Outstationed to Seniors

Services Outstationed to Seniors (SOS) is for residents of senior apartment buildings. Get acquainted with this series of programs and services including cultural events, craft classes, educational seminars and counseling on family and health issues. (pdf)

Treasure Hunt

Treasure Hunt is an informational "swap shop" where usable items are reused and residents and businesses giving away items are matched with those who need them. Items swapped are free. Treasure Hunt can be accessed by clicking the above link or by calling 813-5415. The Treasure Hunt brochure lists other ways to give away.
