Definition of a Con Artist: a good actor, male or female, who disarms the victim with a Nice Guy approach.  The con artist is seldom violent, but is very mobile with a good sense of timing.

Schemes or Con Games are the tricks perpetuated by con(fidence) artists using charm and persuasive powers.  The only purpose for the schemes is to get the victim's money.  Many of the old schemes are
simply updated for today's circumstances.

Anyone can be a Victim, even a person who is considered too  intelligent or sophisticated to be conned.  The elderly are prime targets and those who want to help or get something for nothing.  Beware of these words and phrases.

Don't act in haste.  Pressure that you MUST act immediately should be a red flag.

• Always ask for identification

• Ask for names of past customers; check references

• Seek advice from a trusted friend before acting

• Get medical advice and help only from licensed physicians

• Read everything carefully and consult a friend or lawyer before signing

• Never withdraw money from the bank for a stranger

• Get a written receipt when buying something

• Never give someone a blank check or let him help you fill it out

• REPORT SUSPECTED CON ARTISTS TO THE POLICE      IMMEDIATELY
