The Westchester County Youth Bureau promotes positive youth development based upon the belief that families and extended families are fundamental sources of care, support and guidance for children and youth. Our schools and other community-based services both formal and informal, are appropriate and effective complements to this foundation. The Youth Bureau seeks to nurture and strengthen the capacity of these basic institutions to foster positive youth development for Westchester’s young people.
We believe that our success at fulfilling our mission relies on the delivery of services in an environment that supports our staff’s professional development, promotes shared leadership, teamwork, and individual responsibility.
We are confident that as we move toward the future, we can serve as a catalyst for commitment and action within the community, resulting in expanded resources, innovative programs and services, and new public and private sector partnerships.
To recognize outstanding contributions to youth, the 2008 Rosemarie Siragusa Memorial Youth Service Award will be presented in November to an adult who has demonstrated a commitment to serving youth and families. Nominations are due no later than Sept. 26.
Registration for the Rx for Succes: Dare to Be a Doctor conference scheduled for Oct. 18 at the County Center is now full due to an overwhelming response. No more registrations are being accepted and no walk-in registrations will be accepted the day of the conference.
We hope to publish hand-outs and other information shared during the conference at a later date. However, don't hesitate to visit the Web site of the three key-note speakers -- three African-Americans who left the city streets, followed their dreams and became nationally renowned doctors known as "The Three Doctors."
