Protecting our children is a top priority for Westchester County. The county's
Protect the Kids Committee is working on ways to protect children from sexual predators. Other programs focus on preventing
youth violence and gang involvement. Educational programs like
Innoculating Our Children Against Sexual Abuse, which teaches parents techniques they can show their children for stopping predators, and Preventing Abduction, which works to prevent child abductions, help educate parents on how to keep kids safe. Westchester is also working to make sure that
child abuse is reported by training professionals as mandated reporters and instructing the public on what to do if they suspect child abuse. Keeping guns out of the hands of children and helping teens to abstain from using alcohol and illegal drugs like steriods is also part of Westchester County's campaign to protect young people.
