It's My Healthcare
Be ready with questions for your doctor.

Everyone deserves good health care, but not everyone knows how to get it. Medical professionals agree that patients who participate in decisions about their own health care are more likely to get better faster. To help you understand how to partner with your medical professionals, the Westchester County Department of Health teamed up with respected physicians and members of the medical community to introduce “It’s My Healthcare.”

Many professionals are involved in your health care, but you must play an active role to get good medical care. That’s not always easy. It’s sometimes tough to navigate the health care system. Being sick is scary and hospitals can be intimidating. It helps to find a doctor you feel comfortable with. When it comes to your health, you are your own best advocate.

View our short video showing three different scenarios of how patients interact with their doctors and why it is so important to prepare for a medical visit.
