Tonight's showing of "Ironman" cancelled due to rain; will not be rescheduled

Back by popular demand, Westchester County Parks “Summer Movie Madness” pool and beach parties return with five great movies at five great parks this summer. The concluding film will be at Tibbetts Brook Park, Yonkers on Thursday, August 13, with a showing of the hit film "Ironman (2008, PG-13)," rescheduled because of rain.

Based on a popular Marvel comic book series, "Ironman" tells the story of wealthy playboy and industrialist Tony Stark who is forced to build an armored suit after a life-threatening incident, and ultimately decides to use its technology to fight against evil. Running time for the movie is 126 minutes.

These popular after-hours pool and beach parties offer fun for the family with an old-fashioned barbecue, an outdoor movie, and swimming at all the pools. The fun begins with an all-you-can-eat barbecue of hot dogs, hamburgers, salad and more. Then watch a hit movie on a big screen under the stars.

The parties begin at 7 p.m.; the barbecue runs from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; the movie begins at sundown. Bring your own blankets and chairs for seating on the lawn. Please note that no swimming will be permitted during the party at Tibbetts Brook Park as the pool is closed for the season for renovations.

Tibbetts Brook Park is located on Midland Avenue in Yonkers and can be reached via the Cross County Parkway. Take the Midland Ave/Yonkers Ave exit, make a right and the park is ¾ mile on the right.

Admission is $10 per person, free for children under the age of 3. A Westchester County Park Pass is not required for admission to the party. Admission wristbands go on sale the day of the event and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. In case of rain, the event will be cancelled.
