Open Space

Preserving open space is an important prioirty of County Executive Andy Spano. His administration has helped preserve parcels of land both large and small throughout the county. The county welcomes sugestions on what other parcels of land should be preserved.

Open Space Policy

The county has a responsibility to preserve the quality of life in Westchester by protecting its scenic vistas, environmental integrity, and recreational opportunities.

Westchester RiverWalk

RiverWalk is County Executive Andy Spano’s vision of a 46-mile multi-faceted pathway along the the entire length of the scenic Hudson River. It will be a continuous trailway, running from the Putnam County border to New York City.

Hilltop Hanover Farm

In 2003, county acquired Hilltop Hanover Farm in Yorktown to preserve open space and protect drinking water. Now the historic 123-acre property is a working farm, ideal for visiting, hiking and exploring.
