The Westchester County Department of Planning consists of a team of professionals dedicated to promoting orderly development that protects and improves the quality of life and physical environment of Westchester County. The Department closely works with a wide array of citizen boards to serve its mission.

 Located just north of New York City, Westchester occupies 450 square miles and is home to over 900,000 residents who live within its 45 cities, towns and villages.  Westchester's rich physical environment ranges from thriving urban centers to quiet rural landscapes bordered by the shores of the Long Island Sound and the Hudson River.
