Design Section

The Planning Department's newly formed design section is involved in the planning, design and construction of park and streetscape improvements throughout the County, as well as cartographic, web and graphic and design support for the Department.

Examples of past projects include the streetscape improvements on Mamaroneck Ave. in the Village of Mamaroneck, the renovation of Columbus Park in the Village of Port Chester, and construction of portions of the North and South County Trailway.  Currently, the Section is working on a variety of new projects, including construction documents for sidewalks in Larchmont, Croton-on-Hudson and Ossining as well as the refurbishment of parks in Sleepy Hollow, Port Chester and Peekskill.

This section is made up of landscape architects and designers, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), mapping, and graphic and web design professionals.

LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES

The Design Section landscape architects provide technical assistance to many municipalities within Westchester County.  In particular, municipalities participating in the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Consortium are offered the opportunity to use the in-house landscape architects to plan, design, and prepare construction documents for their sidewalk and park projects which have received CDBG funding.  In addition, design section will be spearheading the development and construction of new sections of the county's intricate Trailway system.
