The Landscape Architecture Design Section works with municipal officials throughout the county to help rejuvenate downtowns in cities, towns and villages. One component of this effort is to conceptualize and produce construction documents for streetscape and plaza improvement projects.
There are three basic goals for these types of projects:
- To bring a sense of unique community character to each municipality, using paving patterns, lighting fixtures, site furniture that reflect the image of that particular community.
- To create a comfortable environment for pedestrians with these projects.
- To design projects that respect and coordinate with the existing context, scale and proportion of the architecture and environment that makes that municipality unique.
The accompanying pictures show recently constructed projects by the Design Section.
