LOCAL MUSICIANS SOUGHT FOR BATTLE OF THE
BANDS
AT PLAYLAND
If you think your band has what it takes
to get onto the Music Tower Theater stage at Playland, send a sample of
your best music and your group may win a spot in Playland’s fifth
annual Battle of the Bands this summer at the park in Rye.
Music samples must be received at the County Parks Department by Friday,
June 20.
To be eligible, all members of the group
must be amateur musicians between the ages of 15 and 20. Samples
submitted can be offered on cassette tape or CD and can be either
original compositions or the band’s cover versions of the music of other
artists. All submissions will be reviewed for eligibility by a panel of
judges and the bands chosen for the competition will be notified.
All samples must include a separate
sheet of paper with the band’s name; members’ names, addresses and ages;
the name of the song or songs played on the tape or CD; and daytime and
evening telephone numbers of the member who will act as the contact
person.
The winning bands will perform at the
Battle of the Bands at Playland on Tuesday evening, July 15. Rain date
is Thursday, July 17. The overall winner of the competition will win a
grand prize.
Mail or drop off music samples to
Westchester County Parks, 25 Moore Avenue, Mount Kisco, NY 10549,
attention Battle of the Bands. Allow sufficient time for mailing.
The Battle of the Bands is presented by
Westchester County Parks, in cooperation with the county’s Youth
Officers’ Association, and the Friends of Westchester County Parks, Inc.
