Sixty energetic volunteers from the Valhalla-based Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. planted 2,000 daffodil bulbs and 120 native shrubs in the woodland slope adjacent to  Westchester County’s September 11th Memorial at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla on October 25. The volunteers also removed invasive saplings from the eastern edge of the plaza.

The work is part of the Westchester County Parks Adopt-a-Park initiative in which Fujifilm “adopted” Kensico Dam Plaza in 2002. This is the fifth consecutive year of work projects the corporation’s Adopt-a-Park volunteers have undertaken to enhance and beautify the park.

Adopt-a-Park promotes public involvement in the maintenance, improvement and support of the 18,000-acre Westchester County Park system, and is available to corporations, neighborhood and community groups, and businesses. Projects range from litter removal to painting, clearing trails and planting flowerbeds.
